Senior Project Manager/Senior Consultant - Nuclear

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Project Manager/Senior Consultant - Nuclear based in the United States.

This role sits at the intersection of high-complexity project execution, nuclear engineering expertise, and client advisory leadership. You will oversee large-scale nuclear and maritime projects from early planning through commissioning and final turnover, ensuring technical, financial, and operational alignment across all stakeholders. Acting as the primary interface between clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams, you will drive clarity, accountability, and delivery excellence across multi-discipline environments. The position requires strong command of project governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance within safety-critical infrastructure. You will also play a key role in mentoring teams, strengthening execution frameworks, and ensuring adherence to strict nuclear industry standards. This is a high-impact leadership role supporting mission-critical energy and infrastructure programs with significant technical depth and organizational visibility.

Accountabilities:

Lead and oversee end-to-end execution of large-scale nuclear and maritime projects, ensuring delivery from planning and design through commissioning, turnover, and closeout while maintaining safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

  • Serve as technical and strategic lead across nuclear and maritime projects, ensuring alignment of scope, schedule, and deliverables
  • Manage client relationships, providing clear communication on progress, risks, forecasts, and performance updates
  • Own project governance including budgets, schedules, cost controls, risk management, and change order processes
  • Lead cross-functional coordination across engineering, operations, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure seamless execution
  • Develop and maintain integrated project plans, commissioning strategies, and turnover documentation with clear acceptance criteria
  • Conduct risk assessments, readiness reviews, and go/no-go decision support for critical milestones
  • Oversee subcontractor and supplier performance, ensuring contractual compliance and resolving disputes when needed
  • Mentor and guide project teams, strengthening execution discipline and operational performance
  • Drive post-project evaluations and lessons learned to continuously improve delivery frameworks and outcomes
Requirements:

Highly experienced project and engineering leader with deep expertise in nuclear, marine, or heavy industrial environments, capable of managing complex, multi-stakeholder programs and delivering under strict safety and regulatory frameworks.

  • 20+ years of experience in nuclear, marine operations, or related regulated industries
  • 15+ years of experience managing large-scale projects and leading cross-functional teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related technical field
  • Strong background in EPC or general contractor project environments
  • Proven expertise in project controls including cost, scheduling, risk, and change management
  • Experience working with nuclear plant operations, maintenance programs, and outage support
  • Strong leadership and client-facing communication skills with ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Knowledge of nuclear standards, commissioning processes, and regulatory compliance frameworks
  • PMP certification or nuclear operator licensing is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools, with strong organizational and analytical skills
