Position Status: This position is contingent upon contract award and successful contract transition. Employment is also contingent upon the candidate's ability to satisfy all customer, contract, and security clearance requirements.
If awarded, this position is expected to be covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Compensation, benefits, and working conditions for covered positions will be administered in accordance with the applicable agreement and contract requirements.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
The Master Plumber is responsible for overseeing the installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of domestic water, sanitary sewer, stormwater, and related plumbing systems supporting a complex federal facility. This position serves as the technical subject matter expert for plumbing operations and provides leadership and guidance to maintenance personnel performing plumbing work. The Master Plumber ensures plumbing systems are maintained in accordance with applicable codes, contract requirements, manufacturer recommendations, and industry best practices while supporting safe, reliable, and efficient facility operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee the installation, maintenance, repair, and testing of plumbing systems and equipment.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to plumbing personnel and maintenance teams.
- Troubleshoot complex plumbing system issues and develop effective corrective actions.
- Support the operation and maintenance of domestic water, sanitary sewer, stormwater, and wastewater systems.
- Ensure plumbing work is performed in accordance with applicable plumbing codes, regulations, contract requirements, and industry standards.
- Inspect plumbing systems, equipment, and completed work to verify quality and compliance.
- Review plumbing drawings, specifications, technical manuals, and project documentation.
- Coordinate plumbing maintenance activities with operations, engineering, and other support personnel.
- Support preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and corrective maintenance programs.
- Assist with facility upgrades, renovations, infrastructure improvements, and equipment installations.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and technical documentation.
- Assist with outage planning, emergency response activities, and restoration efforts.
- Promote safe work practices and ensure compliance with all applicable safety requirements.
JOB REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Master Plumber license recognized by the applicable jurisdiction.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial, industrial, institutional, or government plumbing systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of domestic water, sanitary sewer, stormwater, and wastewater systems.
- Experience supervising, directing, or providing technical guidance to plumbing personnel.
- Working knowledge of applicable plumbing codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Ability to interpret plumbing drawings, specifications, technical manuals, and construction documents.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
Preferred:
- Experience supporting federal government facilities contracts.
- Experience supporting large campus-style, industrial, mission-critical, or training environments.
- Experience maintaining lift stations, pumps, water distribution systems, wastewater systems, and related infrastructure.
- Experience utilizing computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour certification.
- Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester certification.
- Supervisory or team leadership experience supporting multi-disciplinary maintenance operations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is performed in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments, including mechanical rooms, utility spaces, maintenance areas, industrial facilities, occupied buildings, and underground utility locations. The incumbent must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb stairs and ladders, and work in elevated, confined, or difficult-to-access spaces as required. The position frequently requires lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling tools, materials, parts, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Work may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, dust, wastewater systems, chemicals, moving mechanical equipment, and other operational hazards associated with plumbing and utility infrastructure. The incumbent must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all applicable safety procedures. Occasional evening, weekend, on-call, or extended work hours may be necessary to support operational requirements, outages, emergency response activities, or contract needs.

The compensation range provided for this position is intended as a general guideline. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, certifications, geographic location, market conditions, and business needs, consistent with applicable laws and contract requirements.

Positions covered by the Service Contract Act (SCA), Davis-Bacon Act (DBA), Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), or other applicable contract requirements will be administered in accordance with those requirements. Compensation, benefits, and work rules for positions covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement will be governed by the applicable agreement.
