This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Employment and Litigation Counsel based in the United States.

This senior legal role serves as a key strategic advisor within a mission-driven, multi-state healthcare organization focused on serving vulnerable populations. The position is responsible for leading employment law strategy, litigation management, and high-stakes workplace investigations across a complex and rapidly evolving environment. Acting as a trusted partner to executive leadership, this counsel ensures legal risk is proactively identified, mitigated, and aligned with organizational priorities. The role combines hands-on litigation oversight with forward-looking compliance strategy and policy development. It requires strong judgment, business acumen, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders across functions. This is a high-impact opportunity for a legal leader who thrives in dynamic, purpose-driven settings where people and compliance are central to operational success.

Accountabilities:
  • Serve as the primary legal advisor on employment law matters, providing strategic counsel to executive leadership on workforce issues, compliance obligations, and regulatory risk across multiple states.
  • Lead employment-related litigation and pre-litigation matters from intake through resolution, including oversight of external counsel and dispute strategy execution.
  • Manage internal workplace investigations involving employee relations issues, misconduct, harassment, discrimination, and other sensitive matters.
  • Develop and implement proactive legal strategies, policies, and tools to reduce employment-related risk and strengthen organizational compliance.
  • Draft and review employment documents, including policies, separation agreements, and arbitration agreements, ensuring alignment with legal and operational requirements.
  • Support multi-state expansion efforts by ensuring employment law readiness in new jurisdictions and maintaining compliance with evolving regulations.
  • Partner with HR and business leaders to provide guidance on employee relations, training initiatives, and risk mitigation practices.
Requirements:
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school with active bar admission and good standing in at least one U.S. state.
  • 5+ years of legal experience, with a strong background in employment law, litigation management, and advisory responsibilities (law firm and in-house experience preferred).
  • Deep expertise in U.S. federal and state employment laws, with the ability to advise on multi-jurisdictional compliance matters.
  • Proven experience managing complex litigation, investigations, and negotiations with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Strong ability to identify legal risk early and develop practical, business-aligned solutions.
  • Experience working in data-driven environments, leveraging insights and reporting to inform legal strategy and prioritization.
  • Excellent communication, judgment, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership effectively.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, or overtime when required.
Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary range of $168,895 – $232,231 USD, plus bonus eligibility.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match.
  • Paid time off including personal days, sick leave, and observed holidays.
  • Opportunity to work in a mission-driven environment focused on meaningful social impact.
  • Collaborative, values-driven culture emphasizing equity, inclusion, and professional growth.
  • Additional comprehensive benefits and employee support programs.
