Description:

The Department of Biological and Physical Sciences at Assumption University seeks to hire two to three part-time adjunct instructors for the fall 2026 semester. The department needs to staff one section of BIO390 Exercise Physiology, one section of BIO390L Exercise Physiology Lab, and one-two sections of BIO150L Principles of Biology Lab. Exercise Physiology is an upper-level biology course that is taken by students pursuing a concentration in Pre-Physical Therapy and some students majoring in biology. Principles of Biology Lab is the introductory biology lab course for new nursing students. Class meetings run from August 31 to December 16, which includes the final exam week.

Adjuncts are welcomed as important contributors to the department, to our students, and are provided with office space, email, voicemail, support for using our learning management system (Brightspace), and other resources needed for quality teaching. Successful candidates may have the possibility of teaching additional courses in subsequent semesters.

In the cover letter, we invite candidates to describe their experiences working with a diverse student body. Finalists will also be asked to provide official transcripts of academic work from the highest degree-granting institution and two written letters of recommendation. Requirements:

  • Applicants should have a PhD in Biology or DPT for candidates applying to teach Exercise Physiology. ABD graduate students with prior teaching experience will also be considered.
