The VP, Business Development will be responsible for expanding revenue opportunities by developing strategic partnerships, managing complex sales processes, and driving growth across assigned pharmaceutical market segments.
- Develop and execute business development strategies to acquire new customers and expand existing relationships across pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations.
- Drive revenue growth for oral solid dose development and manufacturing services across preclinical, clinical, and commercial programs.
- Identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities through prospecting, market research, industry networks, and inbound leads.
- Manage the full sales lifecycle, including lead generation, opportunity development, proposal creation, contract negotiations, and closing activities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with executive-level stakeholders, including C-suite contacts within pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations.
- Represent the organization at industry conferences, trade shows, and professional networking events to strengthen market presence and generate opportunities.
- Maintain ownership of customer relationships by understanding client needs, communicating feedback internally, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Partner with marketing teams to develop campaigns, analyze market trends, and optimize business development strategies.
- Monitor industry developments, competitor activities, and customer trends to provide valuable market intelligence.
- Maintain accurate customer information, sales activity, and opportunity tracking within CRM systems such as Salesforce.
- Ensure compliance with internal processes, cGMP requirements, and required professional training programs.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with scientific, technical, and operational teams to deliver successful customer solutions.
The ideal candidate brings extensive pharmaceutical business development experience, strong commercial expertise, and a deep understanding of oral solid dose development and manufacturing. This role requires a strategic, self-driven leader capable of managing complex customer relationships and achieving ambitious growth objectives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Life Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in CDMO sales and business development focused on oral solid dose development and manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical drug development processes and cGMP requirements.
- Experience working with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or contract development and manufacturing organizations.
- Proven track record of generating new business opportunities and expanding strategic customer accounts.
- Experience managing complex sales cycles, contract negotiations, and value-based selling processes.
- Strong executive communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Excellent customer relationship management and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prospect independently, including engaging new customers and initiating C-suite conversations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and CRM platforms, preferably Salesforce.
- Ability to use digital tools, online research, and social platforms to identify and develop business opportunities.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%.
