Job Responsibilities
Cannabis Field Inspections
- Plan, develop and implement field inspection protocols
- Conduct on-site compliance and pre-license site inspections
- Write and deliver inspection reports
- Prepare letters and professional correspondence related to compliance activities
- Conduct odor compliant investigations
- Attend City Council meetings to discuss inspection findings and other deliverables
- Attend appeal hearings and assist with business license suspension/revocation procedures
- Assist in and conduct administrative/criminal investigations of cannabis businesses
Other Compliance Duties
- Design commercial cannabis application and interview materials
- Conduct commercial cannabis business application evaluations, site plan evaluations and security plan assessments
- Analyze and report on change of ownership applications and license renewals
- Develop, organize and facilitate compliance training classes
- Develop, organize and facilitate committee meeting, public workshops and/or orientation meetings
- Design and print owner/employee identification badges
- Conduct POST certified pre-employment background investigations on police, fire and dispatch applicants
- Perform neighborhood canvass and field interviews for background investigations
- Manage confidential personnel records related to backgrounds
- Assign projects/tasks to other compliance staff as necessary
Overall Support for Cannabis Team
- Develop reports, forms, spreadsheets, and other professional documents
- Communicate directly with clients regarding audit/compliance work product
- Prepare excel tables, reports, memos and emails for cannabis businesses and clients
- Administer and monitor cannabis contracts
- Gather and maintain monthly invoicing
- Organize and disseminate expense reports
- Gather and maintain records, files and documents related to Public Records Act requests or subpoenas
- Oversee the audit notification and financial record collection process
- Train new audit staff on financial record retention policies
Skills and Qualifications
- 2+ years experience in preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials
- Proven experience in providing high-quality customer service
- Possess extensive expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Dropbox, DocuSign and related professional programs
- Proven experience in presenting technical information clearly and concisely to client staff, committees, public officials, and the general public
- Proven experience in accounts receivable, invoicing, billing, contract administration
- Proven experience with the California cannabis industry, state license types and licensing processes
- Experience with exercising independent judgement and carrying out job functions with or without direction supervision or instruction
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in public policy, Public Administration, Political Science & Government, Criminal/Civil Law, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, Accounting, Business Finance or a field of study closely related.
Compensation
The starting base salary for this Brea, CA position is expected to be between $69,142.86 to $72,600.00 annually. Actual salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant) and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable law.
