**This position requires travel to different locations throughout Kentucky and Southern Indiana including Elizabethtown, KY, Corydon, IN, Frankfort, KY and other locations based on need. Schedule will be Monday Friday. Hours will vary depending on office need.**

Medical Assistants perform administrative and clinical duties under the direct supervision of a medical provider physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner in the medical office setting.

The Medical Assistant works closely with the physician in the practice/center clinical setting, assists with direct patient care, and serves as the clinical liaison between physician and patient and between physician and the office staff. The incumbent is responsible for promoting communication among all care providers, patients, and office staff regarding the care plan for the patient as defined by the attending physician. This individual attends to patients utilizing the age-appropriate principles of growth and development for patients of all ages according to the practice specialty.

Clinical Functions:

Administrative Functions:

Taking patients to rooms

Greeting patients

Obtaining vital signs

Scheduling appointments

Assisting with medical procedures

Answering phones

Performing phlebotomy

Clerical & computer work

Obtaining lab specimens

Prior authorizations

Adhering to safety and infection guidelines

Billing and coding

Maintaining electronic medical records (EMR)

Faxing

Calculating & administering medications & vaccinations

Disability & Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) paperwork

Required:

• Graduate of a medical assistant program (or) One year as a Medical Assistant

Desired:

• One year as a Medical Assistant
• Certified Medical Assistant
