PAY: $25.00 per hour to start

POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Property Care Host at The Gables, you preserve the beauty, comfort, safety, and functionality of the property through preventative maintenance, thoughtful repairs, and careful attention to detail.
This hands-on role includes routine inspections, general repairs, exterior care, maintenance records, vendor coordination, and prompt response to issues affecting guests or operations. Because we are a small team, flexibility, sound judgment, quality craftsmanship, and a willingness to support broader property needs are essential.

A Successful Property Care Host:
• Notices concerns early and completes repairs and preventative maintenance safely, efficiently, and with pride in craftsmanship.
• Keeps the property, grounds, tools, records, and maintenance areas organized while communicating needs and project status clearly.
• Remains resourceful, calm, and flexible when responding to guests, emergencies, vendors, and changing priorities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Preventative Maintenance and Repairs
• Conduct property walks and preventative inspections, identifying maintenance, safety, lighting, equipment, and presentation concerns before they affect guests.
• Troubleshoot and complete plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, drywall, painting, furniture, fixture, and general repairs within skill level, recognizing when specialized service is needed.
• Respond to requests and complete work orders and projects promptly with quality craftsmanship, thoughtful finish work, and accurate documentation.
Guest Service and Property Presentation
• Monitor guest rooms, public spaces, mechanical and storage areas, and exterior facilities for maintenance or presentation concerns and address them proactively.
• Greet guests warmly and perform work in public or occupied rooms professionally, respecting privacy and minimizing disruption.
• Support room refreshes, public-area presentation, window cleaning, pressure washing, furniture touch-ups, and other property-care needs.
Grounds, Exterior, and Seasonal Care
• Maintain landscaping, walkways, patios, exterior lighting, entrances, furniture, and seasonal decor so outdoor spaces remain safe and inviting.
• Monitor exterior fixtures, drainage, surfaces, and other property elements for wear, damage, debris, or safety concerns.
• Support severe-weather preparation and response, seasonal setup, event preparation, and movement of furniture or equipment as needed.
Inventory, Documentation, and Vendor Coordination
• Maintain organized tools, equipment, repair materials, replacement parts, and maintenance supplies, communicating restocking needs proactively.
• Keep maintenance spaces clean, secure, and ready for use while maintaining accurate logs, work orders, inspection records, and project notes.
• Coordinate onsite with approved vendors for specialized work and communicate scope, access, status, pricing, recurring concerns, and recommended solutions to management.
Safety, Emergencies, Teamwork, and Property Support
• Follow established safety standards and promptly address or report hazards or conditions affecting guests, team members, vendors, or the property.
• Assist with building emergencies, utility outages, severe weather, equipment failures, and other unexpected situations.
• Communicate clearly with guests, teammates, management, and vendors and support housekeeping, events, room refreshes, furniture moves, and property projects as appropriate.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Valid driver's license required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience & Skills
• Previous maintenance, facilities, construction, landscaping, building operations, or skilled-trade experience preferred.
• General working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, carpentry, mechanical systems, and common building repairs, with judgment to recognize when specialized service is required.
• Comfortable safely using hand tools, power tools, ladders, and common maintenance equipment.
• Ability to diagnose problems, prioritize repairs, identify practical solutions, and manage multiple preventative-maintenance priorities independently with organized follow-through.
• Strong attention to detail and appreciation for craftsmanship, finishes, and design, with confident communication and guest-service skills in occupied and public areas.
• Dependable attendance, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm and resourceful while supporting grounds, seasonal projects, events, room refreshes, and changing property needs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and safely work at varying heights.
• Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and common maintenance equipment and work indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching, lifting, twisting, and standing for extended periods.
• Maintains a polished, professional appearance consistent with The Gables' hospitality standards.
