Job Description
Build a kitchen from zero.
Buckley’s Family Adventure opens this fall in Woodland Hills — 25,000 square feet of go-karts, laser tag, arcade, and a from-scratch kitchen that hasn’t cooked its first ticket yet. There’s no existing standard to inherit here. Whoever takes this job sets it.
Who we’re looking forHonestly? Somewhere between Mister Rogers and Anthony Bourdain.
The Mister Rogers half: you actually care about the people on your line. You develop them. You’re the reason a nineteen-year-old prep cook decides to stay in this industry.
The Bourdain half: you have real, unembarrassed pride in the food. You care that the third order of the night looks exactly like the first. You’d rather remake it than send it.
What you’ll actually doRun a high-volume kitchen calmly under pressure. Hold food safety and consistency to a standard nobody has to check behind you on. Build the prep systems, par levels, and opening and closing checklists from scratch. Hire, train, and develop your own team. Work directly with our GM on menu execution and cost.
Requirements• ServSafe Manager certification — current, or obtainable before your start date. We’ll cover the cost.
• Real experience running a high-volume kitchen or leading a line
• Comfortable with allergen protocols in a kitchen that serves a lot of kids
• Available nights, weekends, and holidays
Our kitchen is pork-free and shellfish-free. Family entertainment center volume is spiky — dead at 2 PM, slammed at 6:30. If you’ve worked events, stadiums, or high-volume casual, you know the rhythm.
The honest partThis is a first location. The equipment is brand new and will occasionally be uncooperative. The menu will change in the first six months because we’ll learn things. You’ll be building the plane somewhat in flight. That’s either the appeal or the dealbreaker, and we’d rather you decide which right now.
What we offer$24.00/hour · Free meal every shift up to $25 · 4 Adventure Passes a month · 40 hours PTO annually (90-day wait, 80-hour cap) · California paid sick leave · 1.5x holiday pay · Your birthday off, paid · $20/paycheck cell phone allowance · $20/paycheck uniform allowance · Up to $250/year toward your development
