Job Description
Machine Operator – Steel Processing - Decatur, Alabama
Friedman Industries is hiring a safety-focused Overhead Crane Operator for our Sinton, TX facility. If you take pride in doing the job safely and right the first time, you'll move steel coils and bundles to production, load and unload trucks and railcars, and be a key part of a fast-paced, team-driven operation.

WHAT YOU'LL DO (Job Description)
• Safely operate 10-, 15-, and 30-ton overhead cranes using multiple lifting techniques and wireless remotes.
• Move bundles and coils of steel to production lines and load/unload trucks and railcars.
• Identify material, follow placement protocols, and keep accurate inventory paperwork.
• Communicate quality and service issues and support continuous-improvement efforts.
• Keep your area clean and safe, and help hold the team accountable to safe work practices.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING (Qualifications / Experience)
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of overhead crane operating experience.
• Basic math skills, and the ability to read a micrometer and tape measure.
• Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and to execute complex, detailed processes accurately and consistently.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and to adapt to change.
• Ability to work in a plant environment.
• Capable of lifting 50 pounds repeatedly with proper ergonomic form, and to work without sitting (other than breaks) for an entire shift.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, multiple shifts, and weekends.
• Reliable transportation.
NICE TO HAVE
• Some post-high-school education.
• Experience operating equipment in the same or a similar industry to steel cut-to-length operations.
• Computer experience.
