This executive leadership role sits at the intersection of clinical research operations, consulting delivery, and functional service provider (FSP) growth strategy. You will be responsible for shaping and scaling high-impact consulting and delivery capabilities that support clinical trial optimization across sponsors, CROs, academic institutions, and research sites. The role blends hands-on engagement leadership with strategic business development, requiring deep expertise in clinical research operations and consultative solution design. You will work closely with senior client stakeholders to drive performance improvement, operational efficiency, and innovation in clinical trials. Internally, you will collaborate with executive leadership, sales, and delivery teams to build scalable offerings and strengthen market presence. This is a highly visible, entrepreneurial role where leadership directly influences client outcomes, business growth, and organizational expansion.
In this role, you will lead consulting strategy, client delivery, and business development efforts while building and scaling a high-performing clinical research consulting organization.
- Lead end-to-end consulting engagements, ensuring successful design, execution, and delivery of complex clinical research transformation projects.
- Drive FSP and consulting solution development in partnership with sales, marketing, and executive leadership.
- Serve as a senior SME in client pursuits, supporting proposals, presentations, SOW development, and commercial negotiations.
- Build and lead high-performing delivery teams, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
- Establish and expand executive-level and C-suite relationships across the clinical research ecosystem.
- Ensure financial performance by meeting or exceeding revenue, margin, and growth targets.
- Represent the organization at industry events and conferences to strengthen visibility and market positioning.
- Identify opportunities to enhance service offerings and develop innovative solutions for clients.
This role requires a seasoned clinical research and consulting leader with strong operational expertise and a proven ability to build teams, manage complex engagements, and drive business growth.
- 10+ years of combined experience in clinical research operations and consulting delivery.
- Proven success in building or scaling FSP consulting teams or service offerings within a consulting environment.
- Strong background in clinical research environments such as pharma, biotech, CROs, or research institutions.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder transformation or performance improvement initiatives.
- Strong executive presence with excellent communication, negotiation, and client-facing skills.
- Ability to build and maintain senior-level relationships and influence strategic decision-making.
- Solid business acumen, including P&L responsibility and performance-driven leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically as needed.
