JOB SUMMARY

The Route Driver, acts as the face of the company during deliveries. This role is responsible for safely and efficiently delivering pre-ordered products and equipment to customers along an assigned route. In addition to completing deliveries, this role identifies opportunities to provide additional products and services to customers when possible.

Under the supervision of the Branch Manager, the duties and responsibilities of the Route Driver include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Loads customer orders at the warehouse for delivery
  • Safely drives company-owned vans and trucks thirty (30) to one hundred (100) kilometers daily to transport products and equipment to customers
  • Accurately delivers orders to customer sites and places products and equipment in designated areas
  • Builds rapport and maintains professional relationships with customer contacts and decision-makers at customer sites
  • Responds to customer inquiries about available products and services, identifying opportunities to recommend additional offerings
  • Reconciles products remaining on the delivery vehicle at the end of each workday against initial load to identify any losses
  • Maintains a professional, courteous and service-oriented manner in all interactions with customers and the general public.

Requirements:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
  • Demonstrated experience operating vans and trucks safely
  • Customer service experience preferred, with proven ability to build and maintain positive client relationships

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Usual and customary methods of performing job functions require: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling
  • Must be able to safely operate company-owned vans and trucks
  • Repeatedly lift and carry coffee and bottled water products weighing up to seventy-five (75) pounds
  • Occasional lifting of equipment weighing up to one hundred and twenty-five (125) pounds, with assistance
  • Ability to drive thirty (30) to 100 miles per day
  • Climb in and out of delivery vehicle multiple times per day
  • Load and unload a thirty (30) to thirty-five (35) pound hand cart from delivery vehicle at approximately 16-20 customer sites per day
  • Use hand cart to move products and equipment from delivery vehicle into customer facility
  • Approximately twenty (20%) percent sitting and/or driving, sixty (60%) percent walking, and twenty (20%) percent standing daily
  • Able to work outdoors in various types of weather conditions

TRAVEL

Frequent local travel is required to deliver products to customers’ place of business.
