Job Description

Teifi Digital, a Shopify Plus Platinum partner, excels in resolving complex e-commerce challenges. We focus on integrating large catalogs, sophisticated data frameworks, and legacy systems into seamless unified commerce and B2B solutions, delivering unparalleled customer experiences. Our skill in deploying Shopify Plus caters to top-tier merchants in manufacturing, parts, distribution, retail, and B2B, ensuring minimal technical debt and maximized e-commerce revenue.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Solutions Architect (Shopify) to join our growing eCommerce and technology team. In this role, you will own the end-to-end technical solution for complex, enterprise-grade unified commerce engagements on Shopify Plus — spanning online storefronts, point-of-sale, B2B, marketplaces, and the broader system landscape. You will partner closely with Sales, Project & Program Management, Business Analysts, Engineering, and other departments to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions for high-growth and high-volume eCommerce clients. You will engage from pre-sales through Build, acting as a strategic technical leader who drives clarity, alignment, and informed decision-making across client, partner, and internal stakeholders. This role blends hands-on technical expertise with architectural oversight, enabling you to shape platform decisions, integrations, and custom development approaches across the agency's enterprise engagements. As a key contributor in a fast-paced agency environment, you will help shape best practices, evaluate emerging technologies, and ensure our Shopify solutions are future-ready, maintainable, and aligned with both short-term client goals and long-term business strategy.

What Makes This Role Different?

Teifi is product-led as well as services-led. We've built a portfolio of proprietary products — including WorkMate — that we leverage to accelerate enterprise delivery and unlock outcomes that pure custom builds can't match. As Solutions Architect, you'll help shape how these products factor into client solutions, and surface patterns from the field back into our product roadmap.

Key ResponsibilitiesPre-Sales Support

Partner with Sales and account leadership on qualifying enterprise opportunities — joining prospect calls to surface technical needs, constraints, and feasibility early in the pursuit.Lead technical scoping and estimation during pursuit, translating prospect requirements into solution outlines, high-level architecture, and level-of-effort guidance.Contribute to proposals and statements of work — defining the technical approach, assumptions, risks, and key dependencies that inform commercial terms.Deliver tailored technical demos and architectural walkthroughs that showcase Teifi's capabilities and proprietary IP (e.g., WorkMate) to prospective clients.Help shape pricing approach by identifying complexity drivers, integration scope, and resourcing needs, and by flagging risks that should be addressed before contracting.

Discovery & Solution Design

Own the technical Discovery — leading the technical aspect of discovery sessions and workshops, navigating business and technical stakeholders across enterprise client organizations, and partnering with Project/Program Management on discovery agendas, prioritization, and synthesis.Develop a clear understanding of the client's as-is and target-state across business processes, people/users, and systems/technology — performing gap analysis to inform solution scope and prioritization.Facilitate scope prioritization and support client stakeholders in making informed now-vs-later decisions; navigate scoping, prioritization, and roadmapping exercises that address both immediate needs and long-term enterprise success.Set up proof-of-concept prototypes during Discovery as appropriate, de-risking uncertain technical approaches before committing to a full build.Create Solution Design documents at the System and Component level, outlining the solution approach to features and requirements in a way that enables the team to write stories and build with confidence.Produce and maintain comprehensive technical documentation including architecture diagrams, data flow processes, API schemas, and system integration maps.Partner with Project/Program Management to support Discovery planning, tracking, and client status updates.Identify areas of complexity, technical risk, and scope-impacting factors during Discovery, and work toward a scope and solution that optimizes these parameters.

Enterprise Architecture & Integration

Design unified commerce architectures that bring together online storefronts, point-of-sale, B2B, marketplaces, and other channels into a cohesive system — ensuring consistency of catalog, inventory, customer, and order data across touch points.Design end-to-end system architectures for complex Shopify Plus implementations, ensuring scalability, security, and performance across both B2C and B2B contexts.Determine integration approaches across the client's broader enterprise stack — including ERPs, CRMs, OMS/WMS, PIMs, payment gateways, shipping providers, tax engines, and marketing platforms — balancing out-of-the-box connectors against custom builds.Define the technical framework for custom Shopify apps, themes, and middleware solutions tailored to client needs, including functional requirements, integration points, and data flows.Plan data and platform migrations — defining strategy, data mapping, sequencing, and risk mitigation — for clients moving off legacy enterprise platforms.Evaluate composable and native approaches to Shopify, and recommend the right architecture for each engagement based on requirements, constraints, and long-term goals.Evaluate when to leverage Teifi's proprietary product suite (such as WorkMate) versus custom builds or third-party solutions, balancing speed-to-value, cost, and long-term maintainability.

Build-Phase Support & Technical Leadership

Provide support and oversight to development/engineering teams during Build, serving as the escalation point for technical members of the project team.Mentor and guide other technical roles on the team — including Technical Product Owners and engineers — sharing best practices and raising the bar on solution quality across enterprise engagements.

Emerging Trends & Continuous Improvement

Stay current on Shopify's latest features and app ecosystem — including Shopify Functions, Flow, metafields/metaobjects, webhooks, and composable commerce capabilities — incorporating relevant advancements into client recommendations and ensuring solutions avoid deprecated patterns.

QualificationsExperience

Proven experience as a Solutions Architect, Systems Architect, or similar role in an eCommerce or Shopify-focused environment, with a track record of leading enterprise-scale engagements from pre-sales through delivery.Experience designing and delivering complex Shopify Plus solutions across B2B, B2C, and unified commerce contexts — including platform migrations, custom applications, multi-channel deployments (online, POS, B2B, marketplaces), and multi-system integrations.Hands-on experience with Shopify APIs (REST and GraphQL), Liquid templating, Shopify Functions, Flow, webhooks, and metafields/metaobjects.Technical ExpertiseStrong understanding of cloud-based architectures and platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).Proficient in front-end and back-end technologies such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, Ruby on Rails, and React.In-depth knowledge of relational and non-relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).Familiarity with composable commerce architectures and modern Shopify extensibility patterns.Strong understanding of scalability, performance optimization, and high-traffic eCommerce architecture considerations.Familiarity with iPaaS platforms (e.g., Workato, MuleSoft, Boomi) is considered a strong asset.

Soft Skills

Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on innovation, scalability, and long-term solution quality.Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and to build alignment across client, partner, and internal teams.Ability to manage workload and priorities in a fast-paced agency environment, recognizing that enterprise Discovery engagements may require full focused capacity at times.Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide other technical roles, raising the standard of work across the team.

Certifications (Preferred)

Shopify Partner or Shopify Plus certifications, or equivalent advanced training.Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect).
