About the Role:

The PT Visit Supervisor plays a critical role in facilitating and overseeing supervised visits between children and their non-custodial parents or guardians, ensuring a safe, supportive, and structured environment. This position is essential in promoting positive interactions and maintaining the well-being of all parties involved during visits. The supervisor is responsible for monitoring behavior, intervening when necessary, and documenting visit details accurately to support case management and legal requirements. By providing consistent supervision and clear communication, the PT Visit Supervisor helps foster trust and cooperation among families and social service agencies. Ultimately, this role contributes to the stability and emotional health of children while supporting family reunification or visitation plans as determined by court or agency directives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children and families in a social service, educational, or related setting.
  • Ability to pass background checks and comply with agency safety protocols.
  • Strong observational and communication skills.
  • Reliable transportation to travel to visit locations within Pittsfield, MA.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field.
  • Previous experience as a visit supervisor or in a child welfare role.
  • Training in conflict resolution, child development, or trauma-informed care.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Familiarity with court-ordered visitation procedures and documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise scheduled visits between children and their non-custodial parents or guardians in accordance with agency policies and court orders.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by monitoring interactions and intervening promptly if concerns arise.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of each visit, including observations, incidents, and any deviations from the visitation plan.
  • Communicate effectively with social workers, case managers, and other relevant parties regarding visit outcomes and any issues encountered.
  • Prepare written reports summarizing visit observations to assist in case evaluations and legal proceedings.

Skills:

The PT Visit Supervisor utilizes strong interpersonal and communication skills daily to build rapport with children and parents, ensuring a calm and respectful environment during visits. Observational skills are critical for monitoring interactions and identifying any signs of distress or inappropriate behavior, allowing timely intervention to maintain safety. Organizational skills are employed to document visit details accurately and prepare comprehensive reports that inform case decisions. Conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques are applied to manage challenging situations effectively and support positive outcomes. Additionally, knowledge of child development and trauma-informed practices enhances the supervisor’s ability to respond sensitively to the needs of children and families throughout the visitation process.
