About This Position
?Are you an experienced nursing leader ready to step into a key role supporting high-quality care across multiple units?
Were seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to help direct the activities of licensed and non-licensed nursing staff who provide medical-surgical and psychiatric care in our facility. Working closely with the Director of Nursing (DON), youll play a vital role in ensuring safe, effective, and compassionate care is provided 24/7 while supporting staff development, compliance, and performance improvement initiatives.
What Youll Do
- Partner with the DON to plan, develop, and supervise nursing services across all units.
- Ensure individuals served are protected from abuse, neglect, and mistreatment.
- Co-develop nursing policies and procedures that align with state, federal, and regulatory guidelines.
- Oversee orientation, training, and competency development for nursing staff.
- Manage on-call duties and provide guidance to nursing supervisors as needed.
- Assist in hiring, conducting appraisals, and resolving staff disciplinary matters.
- Develop and maintain nursing schedules, ensuring adequate coverage during staffing changes.
- Conduct nursing rounds, lead huddles, review charts, and evaluate care quality.
- Lead or support performance improvement (PI), patient safety, infection control, and risk management initiatives.
- Serve on committees and multidisciplinary teams impacting patient care.
What Were Looking For
Education & Training
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing (required)
- BS in Nursing (preferred)
Experience
- At least two (2) years of experience as a nursing supervisor, charge nurse, or in another supervisory role in psychiatric or medical-surgical nursing (required)
Licenses/Certifications
- Current, unrestricted RN license in the state of employment or a multi-state compact license (required)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
