The primary duty of the Manager of Business Development is to generate, retain and attract marine and domestic rail customers with the goal of promoting trade for the benefit of the Port and local community.
New hires typically start between 85-90% of the midpoint. The midpoint for this range is $121,175.
This position reports to the Director of Business Development. This position does not provide formal supervisory direction to others.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, international trade or similar area of study.
- 10 + years of experience in maritime and port industries.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent sales and customer service skills with proven negotiation experience.
- Self-initiated problem solver who works well both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong knowledge of the supply chain and commodity markets with a willingness to recommend and execute follow-up actions to strengthen positive working relationships.
- Proficiency in implementing business development strategies while balancing the best interests of the Port and customer.
- Knowledge of port operations and activities, and their role in international trade, including familiarity with the Pacific Rim countries and economic drivers impacting imports and exports.
- Familiarity with federal and state laws governing ports and international transportation.
- Proficiency in executing marketing plans and programs.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
