Job Overview

Skilled Cake Decorators are responsible for designing and decorating cakes in alignment with both established specifications and individual customer requests. This role includes processing customer orders, decorating cakes to a high standard, packaging finished bakery items, and contributing to the production of standard bakery goods. Team members must adhere to proper product handling and documentation procedures to maintain product freshness and ensure food safety.

To be successful in this role, candidates should have a strong understanding of current cake decorating styles, techniques, and trends, and be able to collaborate effectively within a team environment to support overall bakery production.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with store personnel to discuss cake designs and decoration ideas.
• Decorate custom and standard cakes based on customer specifications and bakery guidelines.
• Execute decoration of everyday bakery items in accordance with established standards.
• Assist in the preparation and baking of standard bakery products as needed.
• Prepare and work with various icings, frostings, and fillings according to specifications.
• Maintain organized, clean, and stocked work and storage areas.
• Monitor inventory levels for baking and decorating supplies; request replenishment as needed.
• Adhere to sanitation and food safety standards by cleaning all tools, equipment, and workstations regularly.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Prior experience in baking and cake decorating
• Proficient in the use of cake decorating tools and techniques
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity
• Strong attention to detail and artistic flair
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and cleanliness
