About This Position
Summary of Duties:
- Provides general medical assistant care to patients as applicable, and as directed by standing protocols.
- Administers, discards, and logs prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with standards.
- Returns phone calls as needed.
- Communicates with providers and other team members in a clear and concise manner.
- Attends meetings as required.
- Utilizes, learns and trains staff in clinic’s software applications as appropriate.
- Follows all office policies and procedures either written or verbal.
- Understands and supports the office’s HIPAA privacy practices. Maintains strictest confidentiality.
- Participates in professional development activities, maintains professional affiliations and promotes positive staff interactions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required:
- Knowledge of medical assistant theory and practice to provide and evaluate patient care.
- Knowledge or organizational policies, regulations, and procedures to administer patient care.
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe working environment.
- Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of a medical assistant to provide on-going patient care.
- Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions.
- Skill in assisting with a variety of treatments and medications as directed.
- Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
- Ability to maintain quality control standards.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergent situations.
- Ability to read, understand, and respond to detailed oral and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate clearly with competency in language, grammar, and spelling in both verbal and written form.
- Basic computing skills including keyboarding and familiarity with Microsoft Windows.
- Medical Assistant Certification or ability to acquire within 1 year of hire.
- CPR certification required.
- ACLS certification (optional but preferred).
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program required.
- Previous experience in a clinic setting preferred.
Compensation/Benefits:
Full-time / FLSA non-exempt status
$19.00 - $28.00 per hour (DOE)
Job Type: Full-time
Expected hours: 40 per week
