Police Sergeant at Medical Center Hospital – Odessa, Texas

Position Summary:

Investigations and follow-up on Police/Security reports generated by the ECHD Police Department. Physical security inspections and training of police officers and security guards. Provides training to police officers, security officers and MCHS staff. Promotes a high level of professionalism within the department.

Qualifications:

A. Education:

High School graduate or equivalent, Associates Degree preferred. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Be able to follow written and oral instructions. Texas Peace Officer License, minimum of Intermediate Certification through TCOLE, valid Texas Class C driver’s license required.

B. Training and Experience:

Extensive knowledge of the Texas Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedures and criminal investigations. Must be able to qualify for Texas Motor Vehicle Insurance. Must have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a Police Officer, without a 180-day break in service and at least two (2) years of investigative experience, good management skills, current knowledge of law enforcement, and good communication skills.

VI. Unusual Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Must have visual, auditory, and olfactory acuity. Requires lots of standing, walking and climbing. Must be able to work under stressful conditions with varying work hours and shifts.
