SisterLove, Inc. is seeking a Community Health Worker (Prevention Specialist) responsible for HIV testing, counseling, linkage to care, biomedical prevention tools, and education.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform HIV Anti-Body Test, complete appropriate forms, follow up with clients regarding test results, develop sexual health and wellness plans, provides referrals to treatment, and schedule a follow-up appointment
- Ensures quality standards for testing and counseling are maintained through the completion of required documentation and compliance with all CLIA and laboratory protocols
- Provides confidential assessment to determine the prevention needs of all clients
- Refer program participants to HIV/STI screenings, treatment clinics, and other services and educational intervention programs as appropriate
- Prepare and Disseminate HIV education materials, offers support, and provide pre- and post-testing counseling by SisterLove and CDC protocols
- Document and maintain records of all activities and report outcomes
- Attend all required organizational, department, and project meetings, workshops, and/or training as requested by the Program Manager
- Send Prescriptions to Pharmacies
- Maintain Patient Medical Records
- Submit Medical Claim Forms
- Patient Billing and Bookkeeping
- Monitors Staff Data Entry in EHR AdvancedMD
- Meets quarterly with Billing Department for reporting purposes
PREFERRED:
- Associates Degree in Human Services or a related field
- Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Public Health, Social Behavioral, or a directly related field preferred
- Master’s degree in Public Health a plus
- Must have one (1) year of experience in a healthcare setting. An overall clinical background preferred
- One (1) year or experience providing STI testing
- One (1) year of experience providing HIV testing and counseling
- One (1) year of group facilitation experience
- Experience with outreach and community engagement
- Basic knowledge of HIV infection and prevention, PrEP and PEP
- CDC “Fundamentals of HIV Prevention Counseling” training certificate preferred
- Training in infectious disease control and universal precautions
- Identify and pursue educational opportunities to promote professional growth
- Awareness of local resources available for HIV prevention, treatment, and care
- Possess a deep knowledge of and history of the Reproductive Justice movement
- Demonstrate a commitment to human rights, social justice, and gender
- Respond to client inquiries with compassion on the phone and in person
- Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility for this position
- Must be able to work on-site and/or in the community during scheduled hours
- CITI Training
REQUIRED:
- CPR certification
- Phlebotomy certification
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:
- Bilingual (Spanish preferred)
- Ability to connect with others and forge strong relationships
- Ability to multitask, meet critical deadlines, and time management
- Ability to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Computer literacy, proficiency in Microsoft Office & Google Suites
- Motivational interviewing skills
- Great interpersonal skills
- Strong contributor in team environments
- Must live within 30 miles of Atlanta, GA, and have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
