Primary Purpose:
The Communications & Engagement Manager supports Uplift Education’s mission by helping to amplify our voice, strengthen connections with families, and engage with the broader community. This role contributes to digital communications and social media strategy, helps craft compelling stories that highlight scholar and organizational impact, and supports fundraising stewardship and stakeholder communication initiatives. The ideal candidate brings strong writing skills, creativity, and a passion for educational equity to help advance Uplift’s work and deepen its impact across North Texas.

The Communications & Engagement Manager supports the overall communications and fundraising efforts of Uplift Education and reports to the Director of Communications. This role works closely with the development, alumni, family engagement and program teams to enhance brand visibility, build stakeholder engagement, and amplify the impact of Uplift’s mission. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

Day-to-day responsibilities include:
Digital Communications & Social Media
- Support the development and execution of a digital communications strategy that highlights scholar success, program milestones, and organizational achievements.
- Create, schedule, and manage content across multiple social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.) to increase visibility and engagement.
- Design visuals, graphics, and short-form videos using tools such as Canva and CapCut to support storytelling and campaign goals.
- Monitor social media trends, track analytics, and adjust content strategies to improve performance and expand audience reach.
- Manage email campaigns, newsletters, and other digital outreach efforts to engage families, donors, and the broader community.
Writing & Storytelling
- Write compelling and mission-aligned stories, donor spotlights, and newsletters that reflect the voices and experiences of Uplift scholars, families, and educators.
- Collaborate with development and program teams to source content and shape narratives that inspire donor support and community engagement.
- Contribute to grant applications and donor reports by developing clear, data-informed narratives that reflect organizational impact.
Education, Experience, and/or Certification(s)
- Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree preferred in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field
- Experience Requirements: 3–5 years of experience in nonprofit communications, community engagement, or development. Candidates with experience as a Content Strategist, Communications Specialist, Marketing Coordinator, Community Engagement Manager, Digital Media Specialist, Donor Relations Associate, Development Communications Associate, or Public Relations Associate are encouraged to apply.
Special Skills/Certifications:
- Demonstrated success planning and executing donor-facing or mission-driven events with attention to logistics and storytelling.
- Strong organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and build strong relationships with donors, families, staff, and community partners.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Communication Skills: Proven ability to write, edit, and craft compelling stories that elevate brand voice and drive engagement—especially with a focus on educational equity and mission-driven work. Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Bilingual Skills: Spanish bilingual preferred but not required. Ability to communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking families and community members is a plus.
- Technology: Proficiency in managing digital content across social media platforms and tools such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok, including scheduling and analytics platforms. Experience with email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp or similar) and basic design software like Canva. Video editing skills using tools such as CapCut are a plus.
