JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Vice President/Chief Financial Officer, the System Director – Revenue Cycle Management will work collaboratively with the System Director - Patient Access, System Director - Health Information Management, and System Director - Business Office to ensure appropriate planning and execution of initiatives to ensure accurate, timely and compliant billing, excellent patient service and maximum reimbursement for services. The System Director – Revenue Cycle Management serves in a consultant role for all phases of the Ephraim McDowell Health revenue cycle. The revenue cycle encompasses the following areas/departments: Patient Access Functions (Scheduling, Registration and Pre-Service Financial Clearance), Health Information Management (including coding, documentation, and revenue integrity), and Business Office functions for all Ephraim McDowell Health entities. WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS, AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Office environment. Position requires ability to concentrate a large amount of detail and track multiple activities simultaneously. Requires ability to sustain efforts in face of constant stresses, changes in priorities, and interruptions in work. May be required to participate in Organizational activities on evening and weekends. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. independently.
EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
Experience with Meditech preferred.
Strong technical financial skills and acumen required.
Information technology savvy, including EMR, familiarity with performance improvement processes and change management concepts required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR EQUIVALENTS:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Management or a related field required. Master's Degree in business (i.e. M.B.A.)preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of ten years of progressive experience in healthcare finance management and detailed knowledge of the revenue cycle in a healthcare setting are required.
Strong analytical, communication and organization skills; documented ability to facilitate consensus among diverse constituents; and the ability to work effectively with other leaders to achieve business objectives are required.
Strong business skills, including strategic planning, executive presentation skills and business financial acumen.
Proven knowledge of all revenue cycle functions as well as all Federal and State laws pertaining to the billing and collection for hospital and physician (both technical and professional) services. Strong accounting knowledge, auditing methods and financial systems management skills are required.
Prior experience leading teams to improve processes around all revenue cycle functions to include central scheduling, registration, charge capture, coding and denial management required.
Experience in report generation, data collection systems and analysis techniques. Excellent analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions required.
Experience recruiting, developing and motivating teams required.
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft applications and a track record of successful compliance with all state, federal and regulatory requirements required.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR REGISTRATIONS:
HFMA or MGMA certifications preferred
