Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator, the Sr. Community Outreach Specialist will act as a liaison between the Thriving Texas Families program members, the community, and other University Health clinics and departments. They will perform outreach services and collaborate with other University Health programs and community partners to identify opportunities and services that address the needs of the Thriving Texas Families program parents and individuals. The role involves planning community outreach efforts, providing information, education and assistance in recruiting families and facilitating referrals. The specialist will also serve as a liaison between internal and external customers of University Health and the community, identify partners, and support outreach and education efforts within community organizations and events
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Associates degree or Community Health Worker certificate is strongly preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in health education or a social science is preferred. Minimum of two years’ experience in community health promotion, volunteer activity coordination, or other preventive health programs in a community health setting is preferred. Experience in public and/or educational presentations, individually or in groups, demonstrating effective communication skills is required. English/Spanish fluency is required
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
A valid Texas State DL operator’s license “Class C” and must maintain a clean Motor Vehicle Record
