Job Description

Position Summary
Responsible for ensuring the financial and administrative integrity of the institutional research program including compliance with internal and external requirements.

Essential Duties

  • Reviews externally sponsored research applications for compliance with sponsor requirements and National Jewish Health policies. Ensures regulatory reviews and institutional approvals are in place. Evaluates proposed budget for consistency and reasonability. Works with Principal Investigator and staff to ensure timely submission.
  • Reviews budgets in partnership with Analyst for industry-sponsored studies, ensuring consistency with the statement of work. Reviews payments under such budgets to ensure proper assignment.
  • Collaborates with Analyst to help determine compliance risk of collaborators and recommends monitoring plans, if necessary. Negotiates and issues subcontracts under externally sponsored research projects.
  • Reviews submitted Time & Effort reports for compliance with intuitional requirements and sponsor guidelines.
  • Establishes restricted fund accounts in accordance with award statements, grantor policies and departmental procedures.
  • Ensures complete review and reporting of expenditures for grants/contracts including analysis of allowable costs, adjusting journal entries and follow-up procedures through the close-out phase in partnership with the Analyst.
  • Assists with preparation of various reports required by granting agencies or management including researching and compiling data.
  • Responds to inquiries from Principal Investigators and Grants Management Specialists and assists with problem solving.
  • Reconciles and prepares invoices as required under contracts including Health Initiatives and research collaborators. Follows up with partners regarding accounts receivable.
  • Partners with Analyst to help ensure Peoplesoft grant computer systems and security. Works closely with IST technical staff to ensure that systems operate effectively, efficiently, and accurately within the grants module to maintain integrity of the financial data.
  • Assists with financial grant system upgrades, testing and new system implementation to maintain a solid working understanding of National Jewish programs and systems.

  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor degree in Business Administration or related field required.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 6 months financial administration ideally in an academic, research or governmental organization required. Experience with grants and related regulations, preferred.
  • Special Training, Certification or Licensure: None
  • Salary Range: $60,000 - $65,000
