Position Summary

The Compliance Coordinator is tasked with the day-to-day monitoring of U.S. Center for SafeSport and background check requirements for all USA Triathlon constituents and USA Triathlon compliance with USOPC requirements. The Compliance Coordinator also provides ongoing support to USA Triathlon constituents as well as other USA Triathlon business units. The coordinator’s role on the Legal and Compliance team is integral to USA Triathlon’s continued compliance successes within the highly regulated Olympic movement.

Essential Job Functions

  • Proactively monitor and enforce SafeSport training and compliance requirements by the U.S. Center for SafeSport for multiple constituent groups.
  • Manage background check system and tracking process for all constituent groups to ensure compliance.
  • Proactively track legislative and regulatory developments and ensure procedures are updated to maintain ongoing compliance.
  • Operate as USA Triathlon’s SafeSport contact and troubleshoot issues faced by constituent groups in the multisport movement.
  • Proactively identify and implement opportunities to automate and optimize compliance processes.
  • Develop compliance communications and institutional messaging for USA Triathlon internal teams, Board of Directors, committees and other external constituent groups to ensure compliance with USOPC and SafeSport requirements.
  • Administer annual conflict of interest disclosure process for the USA Triathlon staff, Board of Directors, and committee members.
  • Assist in the annual audit process administered by the U.S. Center for SafeSport.
  • Ensure the accuracy of all compliance, SafeSport and background check information on USA Triathlon’s website.
  • Assist with the day-to-day management of all compliance related activities and projects as directed by USA Triathlon’s General Counsel or Staff Attorney.

Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, skillful at creating professional documents, presentations, spreadsheets, and managing email communications.
  • Experience working with Salesforce or similar CRM system.
  • Proficient in both written and verbal communication, adept at conveying ideas clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills, effectively analyzing problems to make informed decisions that drive strategic outcomes and organizational success.
  • Independent and a “self-starter” who is comfortable working with minimal supervision.
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize various projects at once.
  • Skilled in organization and time management, efficiently prioritizing tasks and resources to achieve objectives within established timelines.
  • Ability to adapt within an evolving environment and to quickly learn new skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization and across all departments to achieve common goals.
  • Consistently maintains a positive attitude, fostering a supportive and productive work environment.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Two years of experience in law, compliance, or sport compliance preferred.
  • Interest in sports compliance, sport administration, and law strongly preferred.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard.
  • This is a hybrid role. In-person in our offices in Colorado Springs from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm on Tues/Wed/Thurs with the option to work from home on Mondays and Fridays
  • 10-15% travel required. Ability to travel for events and work a flexible schedule, including off-hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
