  • Lead, coach, mentor, and manage a team of mortgage closers, supporting performance, professional development, and accountability.

  • Oversee daily closing operations and ensure loans move efficiently through the pipeline from clear-to-close to funding.

  • Monitor pipeline volume, turnaround times, closing quality, and team productivity.

  • Provide guidance on complex or escalated loan files and resolve closing issues efficiently.

  • Oversee funding activities and verify that closing and funding packages are accurate and complete.

  • Collaborate with underwriting, processing, post-closing, sales, and operations teams to resolve issues and maintain workflow continuity.

  • Develop, document, and improve closing procedures, workflows, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual work, streamline processes, and improve the borrower and employee experience.

  • Partner with product and technology teams to enhance closing workflows and implement automation solutions.

  • Monitor quality-control findings and implement corrective actions when necessary.

  • Build scalable closing processes and operational infrastructure to support business growth.

  • Stay informed about changes in mortgage regulations, investor requirements, and industry closing practices.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is an experienced mortgage closing leader with strong technical expertise, proven people-management capabilities, and a process-oriented approach to operational excellence.

  • Strong understanding of the full mortgage closing lifecycle, from clear-to-close through funding.

  • In-depth knowledge of Closing Disclosures, TRID, RESPA, Qualified Mortgage (QM) requirements, and applicable investor guidelines.

  • Experience with conventional, FHA, VA, and/or other residential mortgage products.

  • Strong understanding of funding requirements and post-closing handoffs.

  • Experience managing high-volume mortgage closing pipelines.

  • Ability to troubleshoot complex closing issues and provide practical guidance to team members.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Strong organizational, operational, and problem-solving abilities.
