Overview
The Study Coordinator will work full-time, onsite in an outpatient setting of Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx. The Study Coordinator will support the Trial of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and a Care Management App in Buprenorphine Primary Care (aka the VOICE study). This NIH funded research trial examines whether ACT and a care management smartphone app are beneficial to people with chronic pain and opioid use disorder. This role requires in-person and remote activities. The VOICE study is one of three research studies of the Integrated Management of Chronic Pain and Opioid Use Disorder Center at Montefiore-Einstein (IMPOWR-ME).
Responsibilities
- Assist in the coordination of multiple aspects of the research project with investigators, project directors, data managers, and other study team members.
- Oversee research visits; collect and test urine specimens; supervise participant computer-assisted self-interviews.
- Engage in outreach efforts to staff and patients to discuss the research study.
- Extract and examine medical records.
- Help to manage the day-to-day operations of the project with investigators, project director, study coordinators and clinical staff.
- Use a variety of electronic systems to conduct research related activities including RedCap and Epic.
- Work with PI to develop recruitment strategies and manage tracking database; prepare regular reports for the PI about recruitment and tracking.
- Attend meetings with study partners and staff.
- Securely manage and maintain study data
- Perform regular audits to ensure that collected data are complete and accurate, and research protocols are being followed.
- Assist in drafting reports, preparing conference abstracts, and presentations related to the project.
- Maintain supply and records of study incentives and travel vouchers as well as multiple study logs.
- Engage and retain people who use drugs using an outgoing, friendly, empathetic and compassionate approach.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Experience and Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Experience collecting data for research (e.g. conducting interviews, collecting biologic specimens, extracting medical records) preferred. Experience working with similar populations preferred.
Skills and Competencies
- As part of a team, must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and adhere to study protocol.
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills; detail oriented.
- Fluency in English, and fluency in Spanish preferred.
