The Team Lead of production is responsible for providing daily production leadership and guidance to a team of production associates and operators by overseeing work activities, monitoring processes, and ensuring adherence to production schedules and standard operating procedures. This role supports the efficient operation of equipment, maintains workflow across the production line, and promotes a safe, organized work environment in compliance with all safety policies and regulations.
Requirements:PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency (SQDE) within the assigned area.
- Ensure all operators are properly trained on equipment, processes, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Monitor and enforce adherence to SOPs and safety standards on the production floor.
- Lead and engage team members to improve performance against safety, quality, and delivery metrics.
- Coordinate and oversee daily production line activities to meet output and schedule requirements.
- Assign and position employees effectively to maximize efficiency, accuracy, and workflow.
- Load and set up production lines in alignment with the schedule and direction from the Production Manager.
- Communicate downtime events clearly, including root causes, to ensure accurate tracking and reporting.
- Conduct pre-production meetings to review job details (e.g., materials, specifications, packing instructions, and special requirements).
- Troubleshoot production issues and support operators in resolving equipment or related problems.
- Perform routine quality checks, identify defects, and initiate root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate and timely production records, logs, and documentation.
- Demonstrate leadership by setting expectations, reinforcing policies, and holding team members accountable.
- Address and resolve personnel or performance issues on the line in a timely and professional manner.
- Escalate safety concerns, quality issues, or abnormal conditions to the Production Manager as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support production operations.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support performance evaluations by providing input on employee performance and development.
- Assist other production lines as needed to meet daily output and delivery deadlines.
- Train and mentor team members on job duties, processes, and best practices.
- Participate in training and actively pursue opportunities for skill development and growth.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
- 2-3 years of production, manufacturing, or related field experience is required.
- 1-2 years of experience in a Lead role.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES
- Strong leadership qualities
- Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Sound decision-making skills.
- Familiarity of 5S policies and procedures and the impact of improved 5S.
- Ability to identify issues quickly and implement solutions if deemed appropriate.
- Possess effective time management skills.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints knowledgably and respectfully.
- Good math, reading, and writing skills.
- Basic computer skills (ability to navigate email, calendar, Excel, and online training).
- Solid organizational skills.
- Ability to multi-task.
