UMC Communications Operator

  • PART I - General Job / Performance Information
  • Education and Experience
    • High School diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of one year of experience in working with telecom and related technologies is preferred. Basic computer hardware and software knowledge is also required. Proficiency in written and mathematical process as may be reflected in the completion of high school. Two years of work, preferably experience as a receptionist or switchboard operator.
  • Environmental / Working Conditions
    • This position is subject to inside environmental conditions; protection from weather conditions, not necessarily from temperature changes.

  • Job Description
    • This position is an assistant to the Operator Manager. Responsibilities of this position include fast and accurate operation of a PBX Console during routine and heavy traffic. Work is performed under close supervision according to standard instruction. Performance is based on effectiveness and accuracy of work.
  • Required Licensures / Certifications / Registrations
    • NONE
  • Physical Capabilities
    • Occasionally lifts up to 20 pounds of weight and exerts up to 20 pounds of force to push, pull or move objects. Work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Performs repetitive and exacting work operating a large PBX Console and related tasks.
