About This Position

Position Function:
The Teacher’s Assistant responsible for educating and nurturing the children in the Early Head Start and Head Start Childcare center. Ensure children have an opportunity to achieve, play, create, and be safe and healthy. The Teacher’s aide will provide classroom assistance to students and Teacher’s within the Early Childhood setting.

Essential Functions:
•Execute lesson plans as assigned by the led classroom teacher(s).
•Participates and cooperated in special events, activities, parent/teacher conferences as deemed necessary by the administration.
•Supports the classroom teacher(s) and carries out assigned duties
•Implement and carryout organizational, facility, and program objectives in the classroom.
•Plan for the mental, social, physical, and emotional needs of the children served.
•Maintain a clean and safe learning environment.
•Prepare and maintain student progress reports, lesson plans, and other reports related to the classroom experience under the guidance of the classroom teacher(s)
•Assist and participate in organizational staff committees and parent committees where appropriate.
•Other duties as assigned.

Additional Functions:
Performs other functions as may be required to support the organization’s mission.

Education and Experience
•Associated Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development and/or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
•Minimum of a CDA Credential or Gateway ECE Credential level 2. Level 4 ECE Credential preferred.

Salary
Compensation is commensurate based on experience, position requirements, and candidate qualifications. The salary range is $51,000 - $55,000 annually.

Training and Skills
Ability to relate and develop a mutual respect for the families and children served.
Child Development Skills and creative teaching methods working with a primarily impoverished community.

Work Environment:
The typical work environment in the classroom, but some locations will be outside of the classroom. The noise level will vary depending on the location. External vehicles, office equipment, machinery, telephone and children playing produce noise.

•The employee may be required to work attend trips and/or visit areas in the city of Chicago and suburbs and must be able to transport himself/herself to various locations.
