Savings Bank of Mendocino County has proudly been serving the needs of our communities since 1903 and is seeking a qualified and experienced professional to lead our Marketing Department as Director of Marketing & Community Outreach. This role is responsible for overseeing and executing all marketing initiatives and community engagement strategies that align with the Bank’s values, goals, and mission.

The Director leads the Marketing Team in branding, advertising, community partnerships, digital strategy, public relations, product promotion, and customer experience initiatives. This highly collaborative role works closely with internal and external stakeholders and maintains active relationships with vendors to ensure the Bank’s messaging, promotions, and campaigns are consistent, impactful, and aligned with our strategic priorities.

The ideal candidate has ten years of experience in marketing and communications, strong project management skills, and a strategic mindset. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Lead and manage the Marketing Department team, setting goals, providing coaching, conducting evaluations, and promoting professional growth.
  2. Develop and manage the Bank’s annual marketing and community outreach plan and budget.
  3. Direct the planning and execution of digital marketing strategies, including social media, email marketing, website content, and data analytics.
  4. Cultivate relationships with media outlets and serve as a spokesperson or liaison for public relations activities as needed.
  5. Guide the creation of internal and external communications including advertisements, press releases, customer messaging, and the Bank’s Annual Report.
  6. Oversee the design, production, and distribution of marketing collateral, product literature, signage, displays, and digital assets.
  7. Lead the development of advertising campaigns, product promotions, and brand awareness efforts in collaboration with stakeholders align marketing and outreach initiatives with business goals.
  8. Partner with vendors to develop and implement strategic marketing plans that reflect the Bank’s brand and voice.
  9. Direct the Bank’s sponsorships and charitable giving programs in alignment with community engagement goals and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) requirements.
  10. Represent the Bank at community events and direct staff and volunteer participation in local initiatives.
  11. Partner with Compliance, Technology, and third-party vendors to ensure marketing materials meet regulatory and accessibility standards.
  12. Maintain department policies, procedures, and risk assessments, ensuring timely updates and audit readiness.
  13. Model the Bank’s Principles and Professional Standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10 years’ experience in marketing, communications, or public relations
  • 5 years’ experience in a leadership role
