About This Position
Do you love the water and enjoy teaching people of all ages? As a Swim Instructor I, you’ll play an essential role in helping children and adults build confidence, develop swimming skills, and learn lifelong water safety practices. You will lead engaging, safe, and developmentally appropriate swim lessons while contributing to a positive, team-focused aquatics environment.

Teach safe, effective, and age-appropriate swim lessons for beginner through advanced levels.

Follow established class formats while adapting instruction to meet individual student needs.

Provide clear feedback, encouragement, and skill modifications to support student progress.

Arrive before class and stay afterward to assist participants and answer parent questions.

Create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere for all swimmers.

Actively monitor the pool area to prevent hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Help clean, organize, and maintain the pool deck and equipment before and after lessons.

Collaborate with the Aquatics Coordinator to enhance lesson plans and develop new offerings.

Promote and assist with other facility programs and special events as needed.

Participate in staff meetings, required training, and ongoing professional development.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Minimum age: 17.

Prior experience in swim instruction, swim team coaching, youth sports, or aquatics programming required.

Required: CPR/AED/First Aid (or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire).

Preferred: American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) or equivalent Learn-to-Swim training experience.

Passion for teaching and promoting lifelong water safety skills.

Strong ability to engage, motivate, and manage students of varying ages and abilities.

Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Friendly, reliable, and committed to teamwork.

Frequent in-water instruction and skill demonstration required.

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and physical activity.

Physical capability to perform rescues, maintain safety standards, and sustain active instruction.
