Job Description
PSS, LLC is currently looking to hire an experienced Surveyor to support a project in Destrehan, LA. The primary scope of work will be layout, alignment, and setting heavy industrial equipment.
Work Location: Industrial construction Site in Destrehan, LA
Per Diem: Available if distance to the project from the candidate's home address is over 65 miles.
Duration: This is a project specific position. This position is expected to run from July to November 2025
Work Schedule: Days only; 5-10s
Key Responsibilities
- Perform precision layout and alignment for the installation of heavy equipment in industrial settings at accurate elevations (e.g., anchor bolts, platforms, supports, foundations, etc.)
- Utilize high-accuracy instruments such as total stations, laser trackers, and digital levels to ensure exact placement and alignment.
- Interpret engineering drawings, isometric plans, and equipment setting specifications.
- Collaborate with engineers, rigging crews, and construction managers to ensure proper sequencing and execution of equipment setting.
- Conduct as-built surveys and provide detailed documentation and reports.
- Monitor and adjust equipment positioning during installation to meet tolerance requirements.
- Prepare and maintain detailed survey reports, maps, and documentation.
- Maintain and calibrate surveying instruments to ensure optimal performance.
- Adhere to safety protocols and site-specific procedures in high-risk environments.
Required
- DISA background check and DISA drug screening
- 5+ years of experience in industrial surveying, with a focus on equipment setting and alignment.
- Proficiency in survey software and equipment (e.g., Leica, Trimble, Faro, AutoCAD).
- Strong understanding of geometric tolerances, datum systems, and industrial layout practices.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated platforms, and active construction zones.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Competency in Microsoft Office productivity software (e.g., Excel, Word and Outlook for email).

Preferred:
- Proficiency in survey software (e.g., Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil 3D).
- Experience with State or Federal DOT projects.
