Multiple SysAdmin/Platforms/Infrastructure Engineer Roles (AU) at DroneShield Group Pty Ltd – Pyrmont, New South Wales

With one of the largest listed defence company market capitalisations in Australia and having raised approximately $250m in 2024 alone, DroneShield is undergoing hypergrowth stage, fuelled by rapidly increasing use of drones for nefarious applications, from battlefield, to terrorism, to contraband delivery and commercial espionage.

This role is in the DroneShield Sydney headquarters in Pyrmont, Sydney. There are approximately 220 staff based in the 4,000sqm facility today, scheduled to grow to approximately 300 staff by end of 2026. Overseas on the ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Denmark, Germany and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries globally.

About the role

Multiple Junior, Mid-Level & Senior SysAdmin, Platforms Engineer & Infrastructure Engineer roles are open across various teams. These positions focus on developing and refining infrastructure, both cloud and onpremises, to support DroneShield’s C2 platforms and AI/Data Engineering efforts. Key responsibilities include addressing high-volume data processing, auto-healing and scaling cloud-based pipelines, enabling MLOps projects, and integrating machine learning services.

Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations

• Develop processes and functions for the continuous deployment of systems, including DroneSentry-C2, AI, and Data Engineering teams.
• Collaborate with software and technology teams to solve complex problems involving distributed systems, data engineering, security, and system resilience.
• Find solutions for both on-prem and cloud-based systems.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Skill Areas:

Note: Different roles will require different combinations of the following areas

• Proficiency with Gitlab for CI/CD.
• Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Expertise in configuration management tools such as SaltStack, Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
• Skilled in Kubernetes, Docker, and Docker Compose Orchestrations.
• Strong experience with AWS.
• Experience with Observability Tooling, e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, DataDog, Splunk, etc.
• Advanced knowledge of Linux, DHCP & Virtualisation Servers, Process Monitoring, System Performance, and Bash Scripting.
• Solid understanding of Networking and Security.
