About This Position

We are looking for an experienced DIAMOND SETTER to join our Production team! The right candidate must be able to demonstrate dexterity, be able to work in a fast-paced environment, has a meticulous approach to work, accuracy, excellent in time management, and most importantly is courteous and considerate to coworkers.

The DIAMOND SETTER is responsible for setting diamonds and gemstones into jewelry pieces by using special tools, materials, and instructions supplied by the Richline Group, Inc. This includes prioritizing work, collaborating with in house production team, and ensuring timely completion of deliverables.

Responsibilities:

Review all incoming job envelopes received for the necessary setting work.

  • Verify merchandise in envelope matches job envelope description.
  • Organize jobs according to due dates.
  • Set diamonds or gemstones utilizing a variety of setting styles (ie. Center Stone Setting, Preset Setting, Illusion Setting, Channel Setting, Bezel Setting, and some pave’)
  • Set diamonds and gemstones of various shapes and sizes in jewelry mountings, according to specifications.
  • Follow brand specifications for tools, technical procedures, work assignments and standards of quality
  • Ensure proper layout and accessibility of all tools and equipment
  • Maintain a clean work area daily and follows established schedule for changing solutions and cleaning equipment.
  • Follow MSDS and departmental guidelines for proper procedures for using, maintaining, storing, and eliminating all chemical solutions associated with required work.
  • Follow equipment safety procedures.
  • Maintain equipment in good working order through proper use and cleaning.
  • Reports equipment failure directly to the shop manager
  • Perform other related duties as requested by supervisory personnel.

Qualifications:

  • The right setter must be a good listener and able to follow instructions from the shop managers and others co-managing the shop workflow and constantly prioritizing job envelopes.
  • Perform duties associated with working on different types of stone setting techniques using diamonds and colored precious stones.
  • Ability to see well enough to read fine print laser engravings on the girdle of the diamond with the certificate number of each diamonds using a 20x magnification and detect imperfections in jewelry articles (scratches, nicks, porosity, dullness, etc.), check quality of work on small parts or entire pieces of jewelry items, and read computer screen.
  • Experience in the following areas: working with different types of metals, precious and semi-precious stones, and fancy cut shaped stone.

Requirements:

  • Highly experienced in setting center stones on semi-finished engagement rings, ability to set stones in pre-set semi-finished mountings, prong setting, channel setting, bezel setting, burnishing, and some experience with Pave.
  • Must have some bright cutting skills.
  • Must be able to work with a x10 and x20 loop.
  • Must be able to set: Eagle claw, French cut, fish tail, pre-set and box cut
  • Replace and reset chipped or missing melees
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a high volume fast paced work environment where priorities change quickly.
  • Must understand company safety: wear safety glasses; utilize Plexiglas shield when setting, grinding, or sharpening tools and proper procedure when handling chemicals.
  • Ability to work assigned schedule on a regular basis including overtime when needed.
  • Ability to communicate with co-workers, and business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ability to hear and speak well enough to converse with others in person, via telephone and paging system.
  • Stamina to sit for over eight hours and focus on small detailed work.
  • High level of dexterity and focus to handle small parts.
  • Ability to work in a shop environment (i.e. elevated noise, steamer, minor dust, etc.

Education and Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in the areas required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • GIA certification or relevant work experience a plus
  • Basic computer skills is a plus

Note: After your introductory period, you may be eligible to undertake home-based piece work, for which you will receive additional compensation which will be subject to required statutory tax withholdings.
