Job Title: Club Leader Floater
Pay Range: $20.50 - $24.15
Status: Part-time, Non-Exempt
Schedule: 10-25 hours/week; shifts vary by location and may include evenings, weekends, and required trainings.
Reports to: Site Coordinator
Program hours of operation: 8:00 AM – 5:00/6:00 PM (varies per location)

What We Do:
Woodcraft Rangers provides TK-12 expanded learning programs, including before and after school, specialty enrichment, and summer learning. In the past few years, Woodcraft has expanded its menu of services beyond traditional afterschool programs and summer camps to include early learning, environmental and social justice, college access, and inclusion services for youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Additionally, we offer Lifecraft, a college and career advancement program to support the development of approximately 1,500 staff. Today, Woodcraft Rangers serves more than 30,000 youth ages 4 to 18 each year across 160 plus Title I schools in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Riverside counties, and continues to expand its reach.

Job Summary:
The Club Leader Floater position provides flexible coverage support across assigned program sites by assuming Club Leader duties as needed to address staff absences, coverage gaps, or fluctuating enrollment. This role requires availability for short-notice scheduling and adaptability to varying assignments based on operational needs. Hours are not guaranteed and are dependent upon program demand.

Club Leader Floaters are responsible for ensuring a fun and positive learning environment for participants and will support clubs of approximately 20 children. Club Leaders have the opportunity to grow, connect, play, and make a meaningful impact on each participant’s experience. Other members of the team include a Site Coordinator, who oversees the program, and a Community Liaison who supports the Site Coordinator. All staff can choose between working in day camps, sleepaway camp, or both.

Role Overview:
  • Ensure students are in a safe environment (physically and emotionally).
  • Promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces diversity.
  • Develop and lead age-appropriate program activities that are FUN, engaging, and aligned with a whole-child approach.
  • Monitor participant attendance and engagement.
  • Build positive relationships with participants, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate to develop culminating activities or events.
  • Request required materials in a timely manner.
  • Comply with all safety requirements and emergency protocols.
  • May be required to attend off-site field trips.
  • Maintain and submit student attendance daily.
  • Participate in approximately 15 hours of required staff development trainings.
  • Club Leader Floaters are accountable to the Site Coordinator and Program Manager.

This position is designed to provide flexible staffing support. Employees must be available to accept assignments based on program needs, which may include sam-day coverage request, schedule adjustments, or temporary site reassignments within their designated region. Work hours will be scheduled and confirmed in advance when possible; however, availability for short-notice coverage is a core function of this role.

Work assignments, locations, required travel between sites, and schedules are subject to change at any time based on program and operational needs.

Must be available to work on a flexible schedule, which may include evenings and weekends.

Must be available to attend all mandatory trainings.

This role does not include unpaid standby or on-call time. All hours worked will be scheduled and compensated in accordance with applicable wage and hour laws.

Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for someone detail-oriented, energetic, proactive, and positive, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Individuals should be comfortable presenting during in-person training.

Requirements:
  • Experience in expanded learning or youth recreation programs.
  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED (AA preferred).
  • Ability to work well with youth.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Valid Live Scan (CA DOJ / FBI Clearance), TB Clearance, and CPR Certification.
  • You must pass an assessment test.
  • You must possess the ability to travel between assigned program locations, including same-day changes.
For ABC Unified School District candidates only: 48+ college units or Paraeducator Test completion.
Physical Demands:
  • Frequent standing.
  • Regular use of hands
  • Frequent talking, hearing, and reaching.
  • Occasionally lift/move up to 40 pounds.
Work Environment:
  • Regular exposure to a computer monitor is important.
  • Typical program noise levels.
