About This Position
General Description:
The Senior Bookkeeper / Accountant is the financial backbone of our operations. This position is responsible for overseeing all bookkeeping activities, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and providing insights through financial analysis. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple financial tasks concurrently. Requirements of this role necessitate being in the office in-person during standard business hours.

Duties / Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day bookkeeping, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and credit card accounts.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
- Process payroll and ensure tax compliance.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and file business tax and other compliance reports.
- Collaborate with the CEO to develop budgets, forecasts, and other reports as needed.
- Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for auditors, tax preparers, and external stakeholders.
- Assist administrative support staff in prioritizing projects
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and complex formulas.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to analyze financial data and present insights clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset and the ability to work independently.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred. A relevant master’s degree is strongly desired.
- At least three to four years of progressive bookkeeping or accounting experience, ideally in a senior or supervisory role.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Bookkeeper (CB) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) are advantageous and may enhance job prospects.

- Employment contingent on a satisfactory Criminal History Check as required by the State of Oregon (OAR 407-007-0200 to 407-007-0370) and as deemed acceptable by Direction Service.

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
