Job Summary
The Tool & Fleet Operations Lead is responsible for supporting the daily management, tracking, and maintenance of company tools, equipment, and fleet vehicles. This role works closely with the Tool & Fleet Manager and will progressively take on increased responsibility across tool inventory systems, fleet compliance, purchasing, and operational process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Tool & Equipment Operations
· Assist in organizing and maintaining the tool room in alignment with 5S, EHS, and company standards
· Utilize internal systems to track tool inventory, usage, and service history
· Ensure tools are signed in/out properly and returned in good condition
· Coordinate tool repairs and replacements as needed
· Maintain appropriate stock levels of commonly used tools and consumables
· Support continuous improvement of tool tracking systems and processes
Fleet Operations
· Assist in managing company vehicles to ensure readiness for job site deployment
· Help track vehicle usage, assignments, and returns in accordance with company procedures
· Coordinate routine vehicle maintenance, inspections, and repairs
· Support DOT compliance efforts, including documentation and recordkeeping
· Monitor fleet condition and assist in resolving operational issues
· Review and help track driver behavior and safety-related data (e.g., dash cams, violations)
Purchasing & Inventory
· Support sourcing and purchasing of tools, equipment, and fleet-related items
· Track and reconcile receipts, packing slips, and invoices
· Assist in receiving and organizing incoming materials and equipment
· Work cross-functionally with Accounting, HR, and Project teams to ensure accurate documentation
Process Improvement & Growth
· Identify opportunities to improve organization, tracking, and efficiency across tool and fleet operations
· Assist in developing and implementing best practices and standard operating procedures
· Gradually take on increased ownership of tool and/or fleet management functions
Requirements:Qualifications
· Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
· Mechanical aptitude or experience working with tools, equipment, or fleet vehicles preferred
· Basic understanding of fleet maintenance and DOT regulations is a plus
· Strong communication and problem-solving skills
· Willingness to learn and grow into increased operational responsibility
Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand, bend, lift, and handle tools and equipment as needed
· Comfortable working in a shop/warehouse environment
