Behavioral Health Therapist at Crouse Hospital – Syracuse, New York

Crouse’s Addiction Treatment Services team provides a comprehensive system of assessment and treatment services for individuals with substance-use disorders. The Addiction Treatment team is hiring a Behavioral Health Therapist.

The Behavioral Health Therapist will work as part of an interdisciplinary team that is stationed at the Department of Social Services. This position is primarily responsible for providing substance-use and mental health assessments and referral services. The position requires strong communication skills and an ability to successfully work on an inter-agency team.

Schedule: Part-Time, Days. Sunday: 5:30am-11:30am, Monday-Wednesday: 8:00am-4:30pm

Responsibilities:

• Performs Mental Health and Substance Use assessments.
• Coordinates with treatment providers and Department of Social Services team members regarding patients care needs.
• Accurately documents all patient interactions and results using the appropriate form(s).
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of mental health and addiction research.
• Actively develops relationships with DSS team members.
• Properly develops recommendations for each client. As needed consults with treatment providers involved in the client’s care.
• Professionally presents cases for supervision following existing policies and procedures; confidently responds to input and direction of department Supervisor and onsite team lead.
• Consistently maintains standards of professional conduct and adheres to the Canon of Ethics for the respective field of care.
• Promptly consults with Supervisor upon identification of potential Psychiatric emergencies.
• Assumes other duties as assigned by department leadership.

Requirements:

• Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Mental Health Counselor - P
• CASAC preferred.
• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in Mental Health and Addiction field.
