Join our Cardiology Specialty Team as a Licensed Veterinary Technician / Senior Assistant where you’ll support critically important diagnostics, treatments, and patient monitoring in a collaborative specialty environment. You’ll be part of a team that delivers exceptional medicine and compassionate care for patients with cardiac disease.

As a Cardiology LVT/CVT / Senior Assistant, you will work closely with cardiologists and the cardiology service team to support comprehensive cardiac patient care — from diagnostics and imaging to treatment and client education. This role involves advanced clinical procedures, specialized cardiac diagnostics, and strong communication with both internal teams and pet owners.

Key Responsibilities:

Advanced Cardiology Diagnostics & Clinical Support
• Assist with advanced cardiac imaging including echocardiograms and ECGs/telemetry.
• Perform Holter monitor placement and editing; manage related equipment and software.
• Capture diagnostic quality thoracic radiographs and interpret positioning needs.
• Support advanced history taking, physical exams, and diagnostic triage in cardiac cases.
• Administer cardiac-related medications and monitor responses.

Patient Care & Monitoring
• Monitor cardiac patients’ vital signs and maintain accurate clinical records.
• Provide comprehensive patient nursing care including comfort, fluid therapy, and specialized support.
• Assist with anesthesia and monitoring during cardiac procedures.

Cardiology Procedure Assistance
• Support placement and retrieval of cardiac catheters and sampling catheters.
• Maintain and troubleshoot cardiology equipment, including ECG/echo systems.
• Assist veterinarians during complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Client Communication & Education
• Communicate effectively with pet owners about cardiac diagnostics and care instructions.
• Provide clear updates on patient status and answer owner questions within your scope of practice.

General Clinical Duties & Team Support
• Administer medications (PO, IM, IV, SQ) with accuracy and attention to safety.
• Perform blood/sample collection and basic lab work including CBC, chemistry, and urinalysis.
• Assist with general patient care tasks across the specialty department.

Requirements:

Required:

  • Familiarity with advanced diagnostic systems and software for echocardiography and ECG interpretation
  • Interest in ongoing professional development and advanced certification
  • Demonstrated experience in veterinary clinical settings, preferably with a cardiology or specialty focus
  • Proficient diagnostic and imaging skills (echo, ECG)
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking abilities
  • Team-oriented attitude and client-focused service mindset

Preferred

  • Experience in specialty or high-acuity environments (cardiology, internal medicine, emergency)
  • Graduate of an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program or equivalent
  • Current and active veterinary technician license (LVT/CVT/RVT) in good standing
