JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking a highly organized and client-focused Interior Designer to support our builder partners and their homebuyers in selecting hard finishes for new residential construction. This role is responsible for guiding buyers through the design selection process while ensuring all materials align with builder specifications, construction timelines, and budget requirements. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and is comfortable balancing design creativity with construction practicality.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Lead design selection meetings with homebuyers for new construction projects
- Guide clients through selecting hard finishes, including:
- Flooring (hardwood, carpet, tile, luxury vinyl)
- Countertops (quartz, granite, solid surface)
- Backsplash and wall tile
- Additional interior surface materials
- Ensure all selections comply with builder standards, plans, and budgets
- Review and interpret construction plans, specifications, and allowances
- Prepare detailed selection sheets and material specifications for builders and installation teams
- Coordinate closely with builders, project managers, and installers to ensure accuracy and timely execution
- Manage multiple builder projects simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines
- Communicate changes, upgrades, and timelines clearly with all stakeholders
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of product lines, availability, and lead times
- Support showroom organization and builder-focused displays
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree or certification in Interior Design or related field preferred
- 2+ years of experience in interior design, preferably in new construction or a builder design center
- Strong understanding of hard finishes and their application in residential construction
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Strong communication skills with both clients and construction professionals
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy
- Experience working directly with home builders or developers
- Familiarity with allowances, upgrade structures, and builder selection processes
- Proficiency in design or specification software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar)
- Sales or upselling experience within a structured builder program
