The responsibilities and range of activities may vary, but will include a subset of the following:
- Apply ergonomics and human factors methodologies to designs in progress
- Participate as part of the human factors team in creating designs or updates to designs addressing as well physical ergonomic considerations and identifying concerns
- Elicitation of requirements and user needs
- Creating human engineering inputs for delivery to the design team and supplying timely technical direction
- Creation of or review and assessment of prototypes and mockups
- Working with the development team to investigate and respond to problem reports
- Analyzing and investigating multiple possible designs solutions, providing recommendations and documenting rationale
- Participating in peer reviews of various work products
- Creating tasks analysis and function allocation
- Anthropometric and works space analysis through the interaction with the Human Process® modeling tool
- Research and user testing as identified.
Experience
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment, with minimum supervision this includes in outdoor environments and in and around large vehicles
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- An understanding of human engineering concepts and/or graphical user experience
- An understanding of ergonomic implications in a design
- Experience designing hardware or workspaces an asset
- Knowledge and use of user evaluations and elicitation methods an asset.
- Knowledge of anthropometric modeling an asset
- Experience with usability analysis and reporting including statistical analysis is an asset
Education
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree focusing on Ergonomics, Biomechanics or Kinesiology with a supporting focus in Human Factors engineering through Psychology, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed. Successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements, including but not limited to the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance. Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations. You must be eligible to work in Canada.
Compensation
The expected hourly rate for this position is $21.20 – $33.23. Final compensation will be determined based on your relevant work experience to date. As part of student placement, you will be eligible for quarterly pay increases.
