Overall Responsibilities:
In this role, you will join a team of ISDs to design and develop high-quality instructional materials for the operation and maintenance of complex defense systems. You will collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and other disciplines within a cross-functional teams to create effective learning experiences. This role reports to a Lead ISD and requires on-site presence, offering no remote work options.
DiSTI is seeking candidates with experience developing interactive e-learning across multiple delivery modalities. Candidates must have a deep understanding of instructional design principles and learning theory, as well as a strong visual design sensibility for creating effective instructional materials. This solicitation is open to candidates at both the mid- and senior levels. The specific position will be determined based on the candidate's years of experience, depth of expertise, and demonstrated proficiency in instructional design methodologies. Qualified candidates may be considered for either role depending on how their background aligns with our project needs and organizational requirements.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Instructional Design & Development
- Design and develop instructor-led/computer-based training materials, incorporating multimedia using LCMS/authoring platforms
- Author comprehensive training documentation and supplemental materials including lesson plans, trainee guides, job sheets, and assessment materials aligned to learning objectives
- Transform technical content from manuals, specifications, and engineering documents into clear and concise artifacts, communicating complex information in an accessible and engaging manner
- Collaboration & Subject Matter Expertise
- Partner with Subject Matter Experts (engineers, maintainers, operators, technical specialists) to gather information, validate accuracy, and ensure instructional effectiveness
- Coordinate with graphic artists to produce media assets including graphics, animations, videos, and interactive elements that support learning objectives
- Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure quality and consistency across deliverables
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Apply creative problem-solving to instructional design challenges using ingenuity and innovation
- Contribute to the development and refinement of departmental design standards and best practices
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of direct ISD experience in the defense industry; additional relevant experience may be considered
- Academic background in instructional design, educational technology, courseware development, or related field
- Expertise in multimedia principles applicable to the design/development phases of the ADDIE Model
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences (technical teams, leadership, customers)
- Experience working in deadline-driven, high-expectation environments
Requirements:
- Daily travel to offices in Brevard County Required
- Schedule: 4x10 work schedule (every Friday off)
- Setting: Mix of office and laboratory environments with regular team collaboration
- Active DOD Secret clearance (must be current at time of hire)
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for a substantial amount of time operating a computer terminal.
