Director – HR Business Partner – Distribution:

The Director – HR Business Partner – Distribution is a key member of the human resources team and will lead the Human Resources function for our Distribution Business Unit. This role serves as a key advisor to Distribution leadership, driving workforce strategy, organizational effectiveness, labor strategy, and operational performance across a multi-site footprint.

The Director will partner closely with warehouse and branch leaders and senior distribution executives to align people strategy with business objectives, support scalable growth, and strengthen leadership capability within a performance-driven distribution environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic HR Leadership

  • Serve as the senior HR partner to Distribution leadership, aligning workforce strategy with operational goals.
  • Translate business strategy into actionable HR initiatives that drive productivity, engagement, and performance.
  • Lead workforce planning efforts to ensure appropriate talent deployment across facilities.
  • Support organizational design and restructuring initiatives as needed.

Employee Relations

  • Oversee complex employee relations matters, investigations, and compliance risk mitigation.

Operational HR Excellence

  • Partner with plant leadership to drive accountability in performance management, talent development, and succession planning.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of enterprise HR programs across distribution sites.
  • Support change management efforts related to operational integration, warehouse or branch consolidations, or business transformation.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives related to workforce efficiency and retention.

Talent & Leadership Development

  • Drive frontline supervisor and warehouse and branch leadership development.
  • Partner with L&D to deploy distribution-specific training and leadership programs.
  • Support high-potential identification and succession planning within the business unit.

Compliance & Risk Mitigation

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations across all distribution locations.
  • Partner closely with EHS leadership to reinforce safety culture and regulatory compliance.
  • Mitigate employment-related risk through consistent policy application and proactive leadership coaching.

Metrics & Analytics

  • Utilize HR metrics (turnover, absenteeism, engagement, productivity indicators) to inform business decisions.
  • Identify trends and recommend proactive solutions aligned with operational performance goals.
  • Create scalable training content to support onboarding, supervisor development, compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Evaluate and improve existing learning content for impact and effectiveness.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong instructional design 8–12+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, with significant experience supporting distribution or multi-site operations.
  • Experience supporting private equity-backed or high-growth organizations preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in change management and operational HR leadership.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to influence senior distribution leaders.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to warehouse and branch locations.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred (HR, Business, or related field).
  • 8–12+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, with significant experience supporting distribution or multi-site operations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to access and navigate the production facility.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time.
