Position Summary
The Briarwood Community is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Finance Team. This full-time position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong technical accounting skills and experience in healthcare, senior living, or nonprofit environments. The Senior Accountant plays a key role in maintaining financial integrity and supporting organizational decision-making.
Position Type: Full Time
Salary Range: $80,000 to $90,000 / year
Schedule: Monday - Friday 9am-5pm (can be flexible)
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Oversee general ledger activity, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals
- Monitor and reconcile resident accounts, including service fees and healthcare billing
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Support external audits and ensure regulatory compliance
- Maintain fixed assets and depreciation schedules
- Partner with department leaders to support financial decision-making
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience required
- Healthcare, senior living, or nonprofit experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Experience with Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement or fund accounting preferred
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting software (MatrixCare or similar a plus)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
