*We will offer an ADDITIONAL $80.00 pay daily if you live within 30 miles from facility to take OPTIONAL on-call. This is IN ADDITION to regular pay**

POSITION SUMMARY: The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing respiratory care services to patients of all ages in accordance with physician orders, department policies, ad hospital standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following represents the essential functions of this position. Other duties may be required as needed.
• Performs respiratory assessments and administers prescribed respiratory therapies and treatments
• Administers oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, inhalation medications, and airway management procedures
• Assists with ventilator setup, monitoring, troubleshooting, and management
• Responds to respiratory emergencies, code blue events, and rapid response situations
• Monitors patient response to treatment and reports changes in conditions appropriately
• Performs arterial blood gas collection and related diagnostic procedures as applicable
• Documents patient assessments, treatments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record
• Ensures respiratory therapy equipment in maintained, cleaned, and functioning properly
• Maintains compliance with infection prevention, patient safety HIPAA, and regulatory standards
• Educates patients and families regarding respiratory treatments, medications, oxygen use, and home care instructions
• Collaborates with physicians, nursing staff, and ancillary departments to support quality patient care
• Assists with department inventory, supply management, and equipment monitoring
• Participates in orientation, annual continuing education, and quality improvement activities
• Supports departmental staffing needs including weekends, holidays, on-call coverage, and emergency situations as needed
• Demonstrates professionalism, teamwork, accountability, and effective communications at all times
Requirements:QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Level of Education
- Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Licensure, Certification, Registration:
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in the State of Georgia required
- Certified Respiratory Therapist may be considered based on experience and facility needs
- BLS Certification required
- ACLS, and PALS certifications (or obtained within 6 months of hire)
Work Experience
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in respiratory therapy experience preferred
- Hospital, emergency department, ICU, or critical access hospital experience preferred
- Experience with ventilator management, oxygen therapy, aerosol medication administration, and emergency response preferred
- Familiarity with electronic health records, respiratory documentation, and regulatory standards preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to assess and respond appropriately to changes in patient respiratory condition
- Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment safely and effectively
- Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, patients, and families
- Ability to prioritize tasks and respond quickly in emergency situations
- Ability to function independently while maintaining teamwork and professionalism
- Knowledge of infection prevention, patient safety, and respiratory care standards
- Ability to provide patient family education regarding respiratory treatments and therapies
- Ability to work flexible schedules, weekends, holidays, call rotation, and emergency staffing situations as needed

WORKING CONDITIONS: May be exposed to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, laboratory chemicals, and conditions common to a clinical laboratory environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods
- Manual dexterity for handling specimens and laboratory equipment
- Ability to lift and move materials as needed
