Position Purpose
The Director of Compliance is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the organization’s comprehensive compliance program across a multi‑state dermatology practice. This role ensures adherence to all federal and state regulations, supports ethical business conduct, mitigates organizational risk, and promotes a culture of compliance across all operations.
Role and Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive compliance program that aligns with OIG guidance, HIPAA, and federal and state healthcare laws.
- Serve as a resource and subject matter expert on compliance related issues.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify areas of compliance risk and develop action plans to address findings.
- Oversee HIPAA Privacy and Security programs, ensuring compliance across clinical sites, telehealth services, and digital communication platforms.
- Develop and deliver compliance education for onboarding and annual training cycles.
- Monitor regulatory changes and partner with other leaders to update policies accordingly.
- Conduct regular audits related to coding, documentation, billing, marketing practices, HIPAA, and clinical workflows.
- Prepare reports for regulatory bodies as required.
- Work closely with HR, Legal, Operations, Revenue Cycle, Clinical Leadership, and IT to ensure compliance integration across workflows.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Legal Studies, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in healthcare compliance
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare billing regulations.
- Excellent communication, judgement, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient with EMR/EHR systems and Microsoft Office.
Additional Notes
- Occasional travel is required across practice locations for audits, training, and site support.
- Candidates must reside in Illinois or Florida.
