We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fire Sprinkler Service Foreman for our service division to join our team.
General Summary:
The Fire Sprinkler Service Foreman will be responsible for inspecting, servicing, repairing, and maintaining fire sprinkler systems across a variety of customer sites and also working on small contract projects. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of fire sprinkler systems, hands on experience with service and repairs, and the ability to troubleshoot issues efficiently. This role requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while representing the company professionally.
Key Responsibilities
Service & Small Project Management:
- Coordinate with service manager and customers to schedule inspections, repairs, system upgrades, and small tenant improvement or arm over projects.
- Ensure all service and small-contract work is completed according to scope, code requirements, budget, and timelines.
- Monitor job progress in the field, proactively addressing challenges, delays, or changes in customer needs.
Leadership & Field Coordination:
- Lead and mentor apprentices assigned to service or small project work.
- Provide on the job guidance to ensure quality craftsmanship, safe practices, and code compliant work.
- Conduct routine checks on work performed to verify accuracy, safety, and compliance with NFPA standards and company expectations.
Service, Repairs & Minor Installations:
- Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on wet, dry, pre-action, and other fire sprinkler system types.
- Install small system modifications, tenant improvements, and arm over adjustments as needed for customer projects.
- Coordinate material pickup or delivery with the shop and vendors to ensure timely completion of service and small projects.
- Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure systems remain fully operational and compliant.
Quality Assurance & Documentation:
- Ensure all service work and small installation projects meet industry best practices and customer expectations.
- Identify system deficiencies and communicate recommended repairs or upgrades to the office team.
- Document all work performed, including service reports, inspection records, deficiencies, repair notes, and as built updates for small projects.
Safety & Code Compliance:
- Enforce safe work practices on service calls and small job sites, always ensuring a hazard free environment.
- Maintain strict compliance with NFPA standards, local building codes, and AHJ requirements for fire sprinkler systems.
- Report safety incidents or near misses promptly and contribute to corrective action efforts.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire protection systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and blueprints.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
- Certification as a Fire Protection Journeymen Sprinkler Fitter or similar credentials is required.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Description of Physical Working Environment:
- Physically demanding position. The majority of work requires continuous standing and walking. Requires lifting materials up to 75 pounds on a regular basis with or without reasonable accommodation and frequent twisting, bending, and turning.
- Works on field/service construction sites in all kinds of weather.
- The ability to climb up and down ladders and steps on site is required with or without reasonable accommodation.
