Job Summary:

We are looking for a professional, dedicated and reliable dental assistant to work per diem at the Suffolk County House of Correction in Boston, MA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide direct assistance by keeping the operating field clear, passing instruments and suctioning.
  • Sterilize instruments in the dental office.
  • Responsible for mixing of restorative materials.
  • Assist in taking intra-oral and extra-oral x-rays.
  • Develop and mount x-ray films.
  • Perform intra-oral tasks as defined by law. Ensure that there are a sufficient number of trays set up for the day’s patients: pulpotomy, caries control, amalgam, perio/scaling.
  • Maintain x-ray unit, processor, autoclave and dental units according to specifications.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of dental clinics by cleaning the area daily and sanitizing the area weekly.
  • Take inventory of supplies and equipment to maintain sufficient levels.
  • Order supplies and equipment as needed with approval of the dentist.
  • It is an essential part of the job that CPS can ask the employee to work beyond his/her regularly scheduled hours.
  • Follow all security rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:

Qualifications & Education:

  • 1 year of dental assistant experience
  • Radiology Certification
  • CPR certification required

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to stand; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move over 35 pounds.
  • Regularly able to adequately perform CPR.
