Classification: Hourly Non-Exempt (paid overtime)

Responsible for completing work assignments with minimal supervision, in support of production, through the use of all heat treating equipment.

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must demonstrate proficient performance of all Class C and Class B Heat Treat Operator essential duties.

1. Operate all heat treating equipment, including furnaces, charge cars and more, safely and productively.
2. Process material through heat treatment and related operations to achieve documented requirements.
3. Maintain good production flow, targeting full furnace utilization, by advance planning and staging of upcoming material and prompt, timely handling of completed material.
4. Demonstrate consistent good judgment in preparing loads of material for heat treatment in regards to weight, size and stability.
5. Safely start up and shut down all heat treating and processing equipment.
6. Perform routine process checks and ensure process data recording and documentation in compliance with all procedures, specifications and instructions. These include dew point checks, shim stock tests, furnace charts, and more.
7. Maintain good working order of equipment through proper care and monitoring.
8. Operate material handling equipment in compliance with all safety requirements.
9. Maintain clean equipment and work areas.
10. Wear personal protective equipment and follow safety instructions as required.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

• Must be able to lift 50 lb. parts and other items from floor to waist on an occasional basis while protecting lifted items from damage.
• Must be able to stand for several consecutive hours without rest, with frequent bending and reaching.
• Must be able to tolerate a hot work environment, even at times when summer outdoor temperatures combine with residual heat from furnaces.
• Must be able to walk within and between areas constantly and climb stairs occasionally.

• Must be able to understand and reliably carry out extensive and detailed process instructions.
• Must be able to read, interpret and take appropriate action in response to data from gauges, alarms, sensors and other devices.
• Must be able to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions.
